Homemade Chex Mix - 1

Chex Mix

Ingredients

  • 3 cups corn Chex cereal
  • 3 cups rice Chex cereal
  • 3 cups wheat Chex cereal
  • 1 1/2 cups low-salt mixed nuts
  • 1 1/2 cups plain bagel chips, broken into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup pretzels (itty bitty or bite size)
  • 8 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 Tbsp Worcestershire
  • 3/4 tsp salt, or to taste
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 3/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp granulated sugar

Instructions

OVEN OPTION

  • Preheat oven to 250 degrees. In a large roasting pan toss together cereals, nuts, bagel chips, and pretzels.
  • In a small mixing bowl whisk together melted butter, Worcestershire, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika and sugar.
  • Drizzle butter mixture over cereal mixture in roasting pan and toss well to evenly coat.
  • Roast in preheated oven 1 hour, tossing every 15 minutes.
  • Spread out on parchment paper or paper towels to cool.

MICROWAVE OPTION

  • In a very large microwave safe bowl toss together cereals, nuts, bagel chips and pretzels.
  • In a small mixing bowl whisk together melted butter, Worcestershire, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika and sugar.
  • Drizzle half the butter mixture over cereal mixture in bowl and toss a few times then drizzle in remainder and toss mixture well to evenly coat.
  • Heat mixture in microwave uncovered on high power for 6 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes.
  • Spread over parchment paper or paper towels to cool.

SLOW COOKER OPTION

  • In a 5 or 6 quart slow cooker toss together cereals, nuts, bagel chips, and pretzels.
  • In a small mixing bowl whisk together butter, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and sugar.
  • Drizzle over cereal mixture in slow cooker and toss well to evenly coat.
  • Cook mixture on high, uncovered, for 2 hours. Toss every 20 minutes during cooking (near the end if you find edges are getting dark stir every 10 minutes).
  • Spread over parchment paper or paper towels to cool.
