Pizza Bagels
Ingredients
- 3 bakery fresh plain bagels, evenly halved
- 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/4 tsp (heaping) garlic powder
- 2/3 cup pizza sauce, store bought or homemade
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/3 cup mini pepperoni, or other toppings of choice
- Chopped fresh basil, grated parmesan, red pepper flakes (optional ingredients to finish)
Instructions
- Move oven rack to upper 1/3 of the oven. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.Place bagel halves on baking sheet and brush both sides with olive oil.
- Season non-cut sides of bagels evenly with Italian seasoning and garlic powder.
- Bake in oven 2 1/2 minutes. Turn bagels and bake 2 1/2 minutes longer or until lightly toasty.
- Remove from oven and spread pizza sauce evenly on cut sides of bagels. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and then pepperoni (or other toppings of choice).
- Preheat broiler for a minute or two. Return pizzas to oven and bake until cheese is melted and bubbly and 1 - 2 minutes. Don’t walk away and keep a very close eye on them, they may even toast in less than 1 minute.
